The Celtic Horse is the symbol for grace, beauty, fertility, strength, speed and sexual prowess. The horse also had powerful religious connotations for the Celts. The animal was closely associated with the Celtic sun-god, who was often depicted on horse back, but the most famous Celtic horse deity was Epona, the fertility goddess. Horses were linked to the night, mystery, and magic. One of the most enduring examples of the Celtic art are the huge carvings of horses found in cliff sides around Europe.
